Who We Are
Located in the heart of downtown Detroit, the Pope Francis Center provides vital services to the city’s homeless.
On an average day, we welcome over 200 guests and provide them with nutritious meals, showers, laundry and access to doctors, dentists, lawyers, housing providers, and job training through our free clinics.
We've been serving Detroit’s most vulnerable citizens for over 30 years, and we’re committed to eradicating chronic homelessness by 2030. For more information, visit popefranciscenter.org.
What We Do
Faithful volunteers are the heartbeat of our work at the Pope Francis Center.
We are blessed with individuals and groups who recognize that wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness.
Every morning, we offer our guests nutritious meals, warm showers, laundry service, and much more. More importantly, we offer a community of compassion where people who live at the margins of society are welcomed and embraced. In order to make it all happen, we need volunteers willing to roll up their sleeves and do a little bit of everything, including serving meals, managing showers, doing laundry, and handing out clothing and hygiene items.
