The Need: Pope Francis Center is in need of at least 260 hygiene kits to support Detroiters experiencing homelessness. These kits will be distributed on Christmas morning to our guests, many of whom suffer from chronic homelessness.
Supplies Needed:
Each hygiene kit will be packed in a quart- or gallon-sized plastic bag. Each kit should contain the following items:
- Travel size shampoo
- Travel size conditioner
- Travel size body wash
- Travel size lotion
- Bar of soap (any size)
- Toothpaste (any size)
- Razor
- Toothbrush
Assemble Your Kits: Involve your workplace, school, or church in your project! Host a drive and ask friends, family, and colleagues to cover one of the eight items. Coordinate a time and place to have the items dropped off, or establish one location for online purchases to be shipped to. Once you have all the supplies, recruit some help and get an assembly line going—many hands make light work!
Deliver the Kits: By December 15, deliver your assembled hygiene kits to Pope Francis Center, temporarily located at the TCF Center in downtown Detroit. Call 313-964-2823 ext 211 or email info@popefranciscenter.org to schedule your donation delivery. Pope Francis Center can also pick up kits on a case-by-case basis.
Important Notes:
- All hygiene items must be new and unopened.
- Please do not pack any food or any additional items into the hygiene kits.
- A tax deductible receipt will be provided following your donation.
